Language assessments for children.

Dyslexia South offers a comprehensive assessment service which will provide a detailed analysis of your child’s language abilities. Dana uses both restricted standardised tests and more informal measures such as play to identify any diagnoses (such as Developmental Language Disorder), along with outlining a child’s strengths and any areas which are more difficult for them. Thorough assessment ensures that the best targeted therapy can be given.

Language and literacy difficulties (such as dyslexia) commonly occur together. As our assessor is both a speech and language therapist and a Level 7 specialist assessor, she can offer an in-depth assessment covering both areas. This can be a helpful way to tease out subtle difficulties and identify their root cause (for example, reading comprehension difficulties might be rooted in a language impairment).

Our assessor will also make exam access arrangement recommendations in line with the most up-to-date guidance if indicated.
