Dyslexia assessments for children.
Dyslexia South provides a comprehensive dyslexia diagnostic assessment service which will produce a detailed analysis of how your child is learning and issues they are facing.
Child assessments are for those under 16-years of age, please see our adult assessment page if you are over 16 years old. Assessments are conducted using internationally recognised standardised psychometric assessment batteries such as the Woodcock Johnson Cognitive and the WIAT III. Dyslexia can often co-occur with dyscalculia and language impairments. As our assessor (Dana) is both a speech and language therapist and a Level 7 specialist assessor, she can offer an in-depth assessment covering some or all of these areas.
This can be a helpful way to tease out subtle difficulties and identify their root cause (for example, reading comprehension difficulties might be rooted in a language impairment). Our reports also make exam access arrangement recommendations in line with the most up-to-date guidance. As Dana is APC registered, reports can be used to apply for DSA funding in the future if required.
